The Zoning Board of Appeals consists of five members appointed by the Town Board. The powers and duties of the Board of Appeals are specified and governed by town law.

The Board of Appeals holds public hearings and decides appeals from decisions and determinations made by the town building inspector as well as matters referred to it as prescribed by town law. Appeals shall be taken within 30 days unless the applicant is granted additional time by the board.

A concurring vote of at least three board members is needed in order to reverse a prior determination of the building inspector or to grant relief from applicable provisions of town law.

All decisions of the board shall be in writing and state fully the board's decision and the reasons, facts, and laws on which the decision was based. A copy of the board's determination shall be sent to the applicant, the town clerk, and the building inspector and shall become a matter of public record.

Meeting Broadcast Schedule

Meetings are generally held on the first and third Wednesday of each month. Meetings are streamed live and on-demand online. Meetings can also be seen on Bethlehem Community Network Television (BCN-TV) Channel 18 for Time Warner customers and Channel 28 for Verizon FIOS customers every Monday at 5 p.m.


Payment must be in the form of cash or check, checks made payable to Town of Bethlehem brought to the Tax Department on the first floor of Town Hall.  After payment is made at the Tax Department window, you may come upstairs with your receipt to pick up any additional paperwork.
