Construction Projects

This section of our website provides information on public construction projects affecting roadways and neighborhoods, including town, county and state projects likely to affect residents. The following list of current projects is updated regularly and has notes about each project and its anticipated completion date or milestones. Kenwood Avenue Sewer Repair


On Saturday, October 29th, Kenwood Avenue will be closed between Kenaware Avenue and Borthwick Avenue in order to replace a section of old sewer line. The road closure will be between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and detour routes will be in place.

Krumkill Road Culvert Replacement - COMPLETED


Construction is completed and Krumkill Road is now open at the City of Albany and Town of Bethlehem border. A new culvert passing the Krumkill has been installed and the road has been reconstructed between Andover Road and Beldale Road. The public’s patience is greatly appreciated during the design, permitting and construction of the project.

Albany County Rail Trail - COMPLETED


Paving of the rail trail from the City of Albany to the Veterans Memorial Park along Delaware Avenue was completed in November 2015. The paving from Veterans Memorial Park to Route 85 in Slingerlands was completed in April 2016. The repairs to the bridge over Delaware Avenue have also been completed.

Delmar Sewer Line – Landscape Restoration


The new sewer line was placed into service in Fall 2015. Final clean up and lawn restorations will be completed by November 2016. The Town will be contacting property owners directly impacted by the project to discuss the remaining work and schedule.

Salisbury Road Water Main Replacement - COMPLETED


The replacement of the new water mains located under Salisbury Road, Capitol Avenue and Normanside Avenue has been completed. Final surface restoration work to be completed this fall.

Clapper Road WTP Pre-Treatment System


In order to improve the quality of the drinking water being produced at the Clapper Road Water Treatment Plant, a new pre-treatment system is being designed. The design is approximately 60% complete and should be finished in early 2017. Construction will begin in 2017, with an anticipated substantial completion date of November 2019.

Adams Place and Roweland Avenue Drainage - COMPLETED


The Highway Department replaced drainage at the pocket park on Adams Place and the intersection of Adams Place and Roweland Avenue. The Department also replaced sections of deteriorated sections of sidewalk along Adams Place and Roweland Avenue. The Drainage and sidewalk work was completed in June 2016.

New Scotland Road Sidewalk - COMPLETED


The Highway Department will be replacing the deteriorated sidewalk along New Scotland Road between Couse Lane and Surrey Mall. This work was completed in October 2016.

Rose Court and Bethlehem Court Water Main Replacements - COMPLETED


The water mains located under Rose Court and Normanskill Boulevard/Bethlehem Court were replaced this year.

Delaware Avenue and Kenwood Avenue Sidewalks - COMPLETED


The Highway Department is replacing sections of deteriorated sections of sidewalk along Delaware and Kenwood Avenues. Residents should expect lane closures, during the day, while the work is going on. Construction was completed in September 2016.

Signal Replacement at the Intersection of Kenwood and Elsmere Avenues – ON HOLD


The State DOT is replacing the Traffic and Pedestrian Crossing Signals at this intersection. Residents should expect lane closures, during the day, while the work is going on. Construction is on hold and no completion date has been provided.
