Assistant Civil Engineer Wanted, respond by April 7


The Town of Bethlehem Department of Public Works is seeking candidates for the position of Assistant Engineer (Civil).  Primary duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:

  • Participation in the Town Stormwater Program
  • Prepares and assists in the preparation of construction programs and budgets
  • Supervises and inspects construction projects
  • Review plans prepared by outside concerns
  • Writes specification for construction projects
  • Gathers data required for cost estimates
  • Supervises the work of survey parties
  • Prepares progress reports and estimates for payments to contractors
  • Assists in the design and cost estimate of Town projects
  • Reviews and oversees the work of a number of engineering consultants

Minimum Experience and Training: (Either)

  • A Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering and three (3) years of field and office experience in civil engineering including, or supplemented by, one (1) year in design of construction projects and one (1) year in construction administration; OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and four (4) year of experience as defined in A; OR
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Technology and five (5) years of experience as defined in A; OR
  • An Associate’s Degree in Civil Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field and six (6) years of experience as defined in A.
