Part-Time Clerk

The Town of Bethlehem is seeking candidates for a Part-Time Clerk position in our Highway Department. Primary duties/knowledge include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

  • Sorting and filing of documents alphabetically, numerically, chronologically and by other predetermined categories;
  • Operating a variety of office equipment including a computer, copier machine, mailers, postage machine or telephone system as an incidental part of the clerical work performed;
  • May act as a receptionist and receive and record telephone complaints and inquiries which are directed to the proper authority for necessary action;
  • May collect and record moneys received, issue receipts, and make reports on monetary transactions;
  • Sorting and/or distribution of mail.
  • Needs to have a working knowledge of business arithmetic and English;
  • Needs to have a working knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment;
  • Must have the ability to operate a computer to enter, store and retrieve information and data;
  • Must have the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions;
  • Must have the ability to write legibly, and must have clerical aptitude.

The preferred candidate will have the ability to work various weekdays and hours to be determined between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., approximately 15-20 hours per week. No night or weekend work.
