The Town of Bethlehem, New York is seeking a new team member to work at our Water Treatment facilities. The titles being considered for this appointment are Laborer, Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee, and Water Treatment Plant Operator. The title to be selected will be based upon each selected candidate’s prior experience and operator’s license status. All titles are full-time, with 40 hours per week. These facilities are 24/7 operations with shift work/weekend schedules, and with periodic overtime for time sensitive work as needed at the facility.
Minimum Qualifications:
Laborer:
This is an entry level position with no specific requirements in education or experience.
Water Treatment Plant Operator Trainee:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma.
Water Treatment Plant Operator:
Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma; completion of an appropriate course of instruction approved by the New York State Department of Health Council; and at least one year of satisfactory experience in the actual operation of a water treatment plant with facilities for filtration with pretreatment or for chemical softening or any similar process.
Special Requirement for Operator Title: Possession of a Type II-A certificate issued under provisions of the NYS Sanitary Code.
