The Real Property Law requires that members of the BAR have knowledge of real property values in the area. BAR Members are required to disclose any direct or indirect interest they have in any property for which a complaint has been filed. The Town Board appoints members for a five-year term of office, and each municipality may appoint a minimum of three and a maximum of five BAR members; terms are to be set such that not more than one will expire each year.
