Responsibilities of the Attorney

It is the principal function of the town attorneys to advise the officers of the town regarding the functions and legal incidents of their office.

The town attorney may bring a criminal prosecution for the violation of town ordinances, and may maintain a civil action arising out of a violation of a town ordinance, where civil penalties have been provided by the town for such violation.

Notice of Claim

If you believe you or your property suffered harm or damage by an act or omission by the Town, you must file a Notice of Claim in accordance with the New York State General Municipal Law Chapter 50.
